Communications sent regarding ST Math
This communication was sent via webmail to families on Nov 5:
I hope this webmail finds you well. We have been working to help simplify the student log in process for ST Math. Attached to this webmail are instructions for you to use. Below I have outlined the content of the attachment for your reference.
Page 1 – Overview of ST Math
Page 2-3 – explains how to activate the device that the student is using. I am aware that the elementary students have been skipping this step and that teachers have been able to support that. However, many of you mentioned that it is problematic to have to enter the campus name each time – activating their devices is a one-time process and would skip entering the school name. Once activated, the students will see Nevada Connections Academy (screen shots provided in the document). This is a necessary step for all Middle School students.
Page 4 – Instructions for logging in to ST Math. We have configured everything so students only need their text log in (Username: Student ID, Password: 2019) to access ST Math. If a student already knows their visual password, it will continue to work. Moving forward, new students will not be prompted to learn their visual password.
Page 5 – Exiting ST Math. This is a vital step for students and provides the teacher the most up to date data on student progress.
Page 6-7 – Content Structure and Organization of ST Math
Page 8 – explains the Game Toolbar, the onscreen indicators of how the student is doing.
Page 9-10 – How is my Child Doing – data available to parents
Page 11 – Questions that parents can ask when their student is working on ST Math to help facilitate when they are struggling or extend and deepen their knowledge.
All students should be completing 60 minutes of ST math per week. Components of lessons from the Math courses have been dropped to allow time to participate in ST Math. Participation points will be entered in the ST Math course based on the average minutes per week. The scale below will be used to determine the points:
60+ minutes = 100 points
50-59 = 90 points
40-49 = 80 points
30-39 = 70 points
20-29 = 60 points
10-19 = 50 points
1-9 =40 points
0 = 0 points
